"Earth with Moon" is the first picture ever taken from deep space that shows the Earth and the Moon together in the same frame. The camera, speeding away from the Earth at over 18,000 miles per hour in Voyager 1, is 7¼ million miles directly over Mt. Everest!
To help put distances into perspective, the distance between the Earth and the Moon, 240,000 miles, is only slightly larger than the same distance from one end of Saturn's rings to other.
Seventeen months later this same Voyager camera sent back NASA's first close-ups of Jupiter and thirty-seven months later those of Saturn!
"Very pleased to receive your Martian Sunset and Earth with Moon. I am delighted with them. Many thanks." - A.W.F., Middlesex, England
